A single change traditionally could take 5-10 days to go from the engineers to supplier or fabricator after passing through everyone in between. This delay can lead to exponential cost impacts of this change that could have been prevented had the supplier received the notification within hours of the change being initiated by the design engineers. This problem is typically exacerbated by the fact that all the parties involved with a project had their own change management systems. This required each party to manually re-enter the change into their system and then move it on to the next party within the organization. Today this is no longer the case, collaboration using a single application to connect the entire supply chain eliminates this inefficiency while speeding up the exchange of project information like change management. Not only can these systems handle change management but also drawing distribution, quality control, field reporting, materials tracking, contract management and any other information management that needs to be moved across the supply chain.
